Apple Crisp from Gramma’s 1962 Cookbook

Tip Junkie handmade projects

I am so excited to provide this easy Apple Crisp recipe from my Grandma Sundberg’s Covenant Church Cookbook from the year 1962, a graduation gift for ME!.

Apple Crisp

Grease a 2 quart casserole and peel 6 to 8 apples, slicing them and filling thecasserole full. I like to leave a portion of the apple peel on the scrubbed apple slices. Generously sprinkle the apples with cinnamon and just a dash of nutmeg. Sprinkle over this 3/4 cup white sugar. I cut back on the amount of sugar used. You should pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees. In a separate bowl mix one cup flour, 3/4 c. Brown sugar, and 1/2 cup butter. Don’t scrimp here. Use real butter. Mix the above Ingredients together until crumbly and place this mix over the top of the apples. Now bake for about 3/4 hour or up to one hour if you want the topping to be very crispy. You can smell this crisp when it is almost done. DELICIOUS and very simple. Enjoy, as I have for almost 35 years now at least.
